The 2 GHz Relocation Bandplan Falls Between 2 New Frequency Blocks, Both Allocated to PCS Cell Sites

WE HAVE THE ONLY 2 GHZ ENG FILTER SYSTEM THAT WILL ALLOW YOU TO CLEANLY RECEIVE THE NEW BAS BAND

T-Mobile began deploying 3G Broadband Cell Sites starting at 2110 MHz, immediately above BAS channel 7.  This roll-out began February, 2007, in Chicago, New York, and other cities.

Many broadcasters have already chosen a vendor for their ENG antenna filter/LNA systems.  Because of new cell site deployment, many of these broadcasters will soon be unable to use their new ENG and STL equipment.

Only ENG Receive Sites equipped with the PHILLIPS MICROTECHNOLOGY SuperFilter/LNA series and SuperFilter/LNA series 4  will be unaffected.  These filter/LNA systems are designed to be placed immediately after your present antenna, and replace your present filter and LNA.  It is housed in a hinged door, 14 x 12 x 6 inch NEMA 4 weatherproof cabinet.  It operates over temperature extremes from -40C to +80C.  Power is provided through the center Heliax conductor, which is protected by 20,000 amp surge (lightning) suppressors.

The PHILLIPS MICROTECHNOLOGY SuperFilter/LNA series 4  is designed to be used in the top 50 markets, while the SuperFilter/LNA series 3  is designed for the rest of the country.  A quick call to 888-828-8775 will help you choose which one is most suited for your location.

All SuperFilter/LNAs are manufactured by PHILLIPS MICROTECHNOLOGY, INC., a division of TV TOWER INCORPORATED.  Each system is custom made and uses low loss, low distortion, temperature compensated filters.  This becomes important for a low bit error rate with high throughput modulation, such as 64QAM.  It is also a necessity for acceptable fade margin on long haul ENG or STL paths.  Our Low Noise Amplifier has an IP3 spec of +50 dbm. This high IP3 results in virtually no measurable intermodulation or digital re-growth. The LNA gain and filtering is individually calculated for each receive site.  All of the above help extend digital range for reliable microwave STL links and ENG live shots.

The SuperFilter/LNA series 3 and 4 are designed to use  digital pedestals (bandwidths) in excess of 8 MHz on all 2 GHz BAS channels, or two 6 MHz digital pedestals on 2 GHz BAS channels 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 9.   Full +/- 4 MHz analog video deviation or reduced 3.2 MHz video deviation may be used on ALL 2 GHz BAS channels, with an audio subcarrier of 4.83 MHz, together with a second audio subcarrier of 5.2 or 5.8 MHz.  Modulation schemes include, but are not limited to: ANALOG, all digital modes, including OFDM, COFDM, QPSK, QAM, VSB, LMTS, and more.

Each system uses premium, 10,000,000 cycle MTFB failsafe transfer relays, which default to the frequency of your choice in case of a lightning strike or power failure to the tower mounted LNA.  Compare this to other systems that require a voltage to operate the "solid state" switches, which become useless when power to the LNA fails.  This increased parts costs an additional $1,250.00.  These premium failsafe transfer relays allow you to still receive many ENG shots with our system, compared to none at all with other manufacturers.  This allows you to sleep at night.

All units incorporate advanced lightning protection, and a two year warrantee on parts and assemblies.

We can provide you with three different levels of SuperFilter/LNAs for the narrowed 2 GHz BAS Band:

  • SuperFilter/LNA series 4  - This system is designed for the top 50 markets, which the FCC has already allocated special ATC cell site frequencies.  It has a special sharp roll-off filter for these nearby frequencies. This system contains a super low noise LNA and ultra-selective low loss, low distortion filtering, housed in a 14" x 12" x 6" NEMA 4 weatherproof box with a hinged door.  It eliminates interference that would shut down other systems. It gives you full use of ALL BAS channels from channels 1 through 7, even with strong adjacent AWS/PCS cell sites on channels 1 and 7.  It also gives you full coverage of the 2.5 GHz band.  It is designed with special additional filtering to accommodate certain services soon to be deployed in certain markets.     Call 888-828-8775

  • SuperFilter/LNA series 3   - This system is designed for medium to low density markets. Call 888-828-8775

  • SuperFilter/LNA UPGRADE   - This system replaces your present brand new, unusable filter and LNA system.  This upgrade is placed AFTER your present antenna system.  Your present filter and LNA are bypassed, and a new 14' X 12" X 6" NEMA 4 box, with 20 kw lightning protection, is mounted on your tower.  Special filters are employed for ultra low loss, and ultra low distortion (with careful attention to Group Delay), and minimum drift over temperature.  It has the same specifications as the units above.    Call 888-828-8775
